During a one-week workshop at Domaine de Boisbuchet with tutor Lucas Muñoz Muñoz, the second part of the week we were asked to create a group project around the theme 'for the water,' using only found materials from the site.

Built entirely from barrels, bamboo, and rope, our project was a hands-on exploration of simple materials and physical balance.

The result was the Water Spider, a floating structure designed for both rest and play, floating on the lake of the Domaine.

The design process was guided as much by experimentation as by intention. Physics was our biggest challenge; right up until the final test, we weren't certain it would float. But it did.

We harvested the bamboo ourselves from a nearby forest and used traditional knotting techniques to hold the structure together. Buoyancy was achieved through strategically placed barrels at the base, allowing the Water Spider to stay afloat and support users in the water.
